Second Phone Number allows you to get an additional phone number for calling and/or texting in situations when exposing your real number is not desirable. You will be able to use the number you get within the app for incoming calls and SMS. Additionally, MMS service is available for US numbers.
The app is designed to be user-friendly and accessible. Once activated, the second phone number can be easily managed within the designated app. Users can make and receive calls, send and receive text messages, and even send multimedia messages (MMS) if they have a United States number. The app provides a seamless experience, allowing users to switch between their primary and second numbers with ease.
Credit Balance
What is a credit balance?
Credits serve as virtual currency within the app. Each subscription purchase and renewal grants a fixed number of credits. Credits facilitate calls and messages. The credit balance is visible on the Home Screen or Keypad screen’s bottom bar.
How do I get more credits?
From the app’s home screen, navigate to the credits section and choose the credits package that suits your needs. Upon selection, the purchased credits will be credited to your account. Please note that utilization of credits is based upon the existence of an active subscription.
What happens if the subscription expires?
Your subscription is the basis on which the app operates. When it expires, certain functions will be disabled. Most importantly, you will not be able to call and receive calls, send and receive messages. When your subscription expires, you will no longer be able to:
- Make and receive calls;
- Send and receive messages;
- Buy credits;
- Buy numbers.
Some functions, however, will still be available. With your subscription expired, you still can:
- Renew subscription;
- Manage contacts;
- View history;
- Manage settings;
- Manage subscriptions.
Please note that the options that are allowed after the subscription has expired are subject to change.
Pin Lock
How to lock the app with PIN?
To protect your app, you can set up a PIN in the Settings:
- Open the Home Screen screen;
- Tap PIN Lock icon;
- Turn on the switch for the PIN Lock option;
- Enter your PIN and then repeat it.
After that, you will be prompted to enter your PIN every time you access the app.
You can change your PIN or turn off PIN on the same screen by tapping Change PIN.
Managing Numbers
How to buy a number?
Open the Home Screen screen. Tap Get Number! button at the bottom of the screen. From the appeared list, select a country where you want to buy a local number. Select any number out of the list of available numbers and confirm your choice on the alert.
Please be advised that the availability of the numbers is subject to their availability in the selected region and country. In the event that no number is available in the selected region, the user will be presented with a list of phone numbers from the same country but a different region.
How many numbers can I buy?
With the Second Number app, you can buy two numbers. Please note that you need to purchase a separate subscription for each number. Therefore, if you wish to use 2 numbers, you need to maintain 2 subscriptions within the app.
How to switch between numbers?
If you have bought two numbers within the app, you may switch between them. To do this:
- On the Home Screen screen, tick a number you want to use;
- On other screens, tap on the phone number at the top of the screen and select a number in the menu that appears.
How to delete a number?
In order to delete a number:
- Go to the Home Screen screen;
- Swipe the number to the left;
- Tap Delete in the menu that appears.
Please note that by deleting your number, you will also lose its call and message history.
Making Calls
Which countries can I call to?
The app supports international calls (and messages), which means that you are able to call/send messages anywhere you want. However, the cost of calls varies depending on the country the number belongs to and on the country you call to. See “How much do calls cost?” for more information.
How to start a call?
There are two ways you can call somebody:
- If you don’t have the necessary number in your contacts — use the Keypad. It works just like the usual iPhone keypad;
- If you have the number in your contact list:
- Go to the Contacts tab;
- Open the necessary contact;
- Tap on the phone icon to make a call.
Note that anybody can also call you at the number that you get within the application.
How to view call history?
All your call history can be viewed on the Recents tab. You can delete entries from the call history by swiping them to the left.
How much do calls cost?
All calls cost a number of Credits. To find out how many Credits your call will cost, do the following:
- Open the Home Screen screen;
- Choose Tariffs;
- Select the country from which you are calling (note that this country corresponds to the country of your number, not the actual country you are in at the moment);
- Select the country you want to call to.
All the relevant costs will appear below.
Voicemail
How to forward calls to voicemail?
Please note that you will receive voicemails in the following situations when you have enabled it:
- When you reject the call.
- When you do not answer the call.
- When your internet is turned off and you are not able to get the notification of the app.
To enable voicemail
- Open the Home Screen screen;
- Turn on the switch for the “Forward Calls to Voicemail”;
- Tap Default if you want to set the standard app greeting. Or choose Custom to record the greeting yourself.
All the voicemails which you receive will also be visible in the same screen.
Sending Message
How to write a new message?
Please note that texting may be unavailable in some countries.
- If you want to send a message to a number that is in your contact list:
- Open the Message tab
- Select the necessary contact
- Tap on the message icon to compose a new message
- Type your message into the Text Message box
- Tap Send
- If you want to send a message to a number that you have already sent messages to:
- Open the Messages tab
- Tap on the message history with the necessary number
- Type your message into the Text Message box
- Tap Send
Note that anybody can also send you text messages at the number that you get within the application.
How to send MMS?
Please note that MMS functionality may be unavailable in some countries. Countries where MMS function is available are marked on the Countries screen with the MMS label.
There are three ways to send MMS:
If you want to send MMS to a number that is in your contact list:
- Open the Message tab
- Select the necessary contact
- Tap on the message icon to compose a new message
- Tap the File icon in the bottom left corner of the screen
- Choose whether you want to use the Camera or to import media from Photos
- Make a photo or choose one from Photos. After that, the image will be sent automatically.
